Women's Cool Cymru T Shirt Wow! It’s cool to be Welsh (outside Wales) – and it is largely music that made it so. Once there were male voice choirs and colliery bands and Harry and Shirley and little sweet Charlotte and good old Tom. We were a nation of singers perhaps, but not of the kind of song that other countries could be bothered with and I personally found it slightly embarrassing. I know that along the way we had the Alarm and Man and a host of others who were never really that cool outside of Wales. By the Ninties, though, we’d got the ‘Phonics, the Manics, Catatonia and SFA. By the Noughties we had FFAF, the Prophets (noisy buggers) and Bullet for My Valentine (ditto). Now we've got the Automatic, the Mams and Midasuno, oh, and Cerys Matthews too; with more, like Los Campesinos and The Future of the Left, on the way. Now that Char's a pop chick and butter instantly atomises in her mouth, she’s probably going to end up a role model for young mums. Wonders will never cease! It might seem less obvious, but the band that probably had the most substantial cultural impact on our neighbours was Goldie Lookin’ Chain. Welsh humour set to a ripped-off hip hop tune is pure commercial genius. It was for real. And GLC knew it! Printed red and white on 240-gram kelly green 100% cotton jersey. Price: £16.00 (£18.70 inc. VAT)
