The following holiday diet tips give you some great advice and ideas to get yourself in shape for your holidays.

Some of them are so obvious that you might think I am trying to teach you to suck eggs. But they are worth highlighting as so many people ignore them or think they can achieve their goals without putting them into practise.

Learn to count calories

This is a must. So many people load themselves up with what they think is healthy food and wonder why they aren’t losing weight (or worse, putting on more weight). The reality is, these foods still contain calories. Some of them can even be quite high in calories. At the end of the day, to lose weight, you need to be in calorie deficit. If not, you won’t lose weight.

Use a smaller plate

Yep, this diet tip sounds stupid, but it really works. Imagine you have a big plate. When you put your food on your plate, what are you going to do? Put a sensible diet sized portion on your plate, or fill it right up? I’m betting on the later. That’s because research has shown that we actually do this! So go for a smaller plate and automatically cut down on your calories.

Drink plenty of water

This sounds a little weird, right? How can drinking water help you lose weight?

First of all, the metabolism of fat requires plenty of water. So if you don’t keep yourself well hydrated, your body will struggle to burn off fat adequately. Simple.

Secondly, research has shown that a small drop in water volume around our cells can result in a significant drop in energy levels. If you’re feeling lethargic all the time, what are you going to do? Likely eat more and take in more calories! So drink more water!

Become Active

So many people get frustrated when they can’t lose weight, and wonder what they are doing wrong. In most of these cases they lead a relatively sedentary lifestyle and do little or no exercise. So become more active! Walk to your local shops instead of driving. Or jump off the bus one stop earlier. Walk around the room during those long phone calls rather than sitting down. Use the stairs more instead of the elevator. You get the idea.

Interval Training

If you really want to burn off fat at an incredible rate, then you need to incorporate interval training into your over all weight loss regime.

This is probably one of the best holiday diet tips, and you would be wise to start doing them.
